WTA Members in the last annual meeting the board was asked to reinstate the scholarship program. This has been completed! We now have a policy that governs this process. Below is the part of the policy that has the requirements along with the application. The WTA will grant two $500 scholarships annually. 5.1 All applicants shall fill out the application form and submit it to the scholarship
board chairman. Application deadlines are August 15 of the calendar year of the
request.
5.2 Eligible applicants
5.2.1 College undergraduates – Multiple years may be awarded. Application
must be submitted for each year.
5.3 Applicant requirements
5.3.1 Applicants must be a WTA Member or a child, grandchild, or
niece/nephew of current WTA member.
5.3.2 Applicants must submit a short essay with their application.
5.3.2.1 Include why they are seeking the scholarship.
5.3.2.2 Include what the WTA means to them.
5.3.2.3 Include their field of study.
5.3.3 Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 to be granted a scholarship.
5.4 Applicant desirable qualities
5.4.1 GPA above 3.0
5.4.2 Field of study in wildlife conservation.
5.4.3 A proven track record of community service.
5.4.4 A track record of WTA service/volunteerism.
5.5 Timeline of scholarship process
5.5.1 Applications due Aug 15 or application calendar year.
5.5.2 The scholarship committee reviews applications and submits
recommendations to WTA board by Sept 15.
5.5.3 WTA confirms scholarship recipients in the next scheduled board
meeting.
5.5.4 The recipients are notified, and the award distributed within 30 days of
approval.
